Netrunner Desktop 17.03 released

Posted on Posted in 17.03 Cyclotron

The Netrunner Team is happy to announce the release of Netrunner Desktop 17.03 – 64bit ISO.

Netrunner 17.03 “Cyclotron” ships with an upgraded stack of KDE Software plus its usual selection of applications like Libreoffice, KDEnlive, Gimp, Audacious, Steam, Skype, Transmission, Virtualbox, Krita, Inkscape and many more.

Here are some versions of what is shipped in Netrunner Desktop 17.03:

  • Linux Kernel 4.9.0-1
  • Plasma 5.9.3
  • Frameworks 5.31
  • Qt 5.7.1
  • KDE Applications 16.12.2
  • Firefox 52~ESR
  • Thundebird 45

Some new, some re-cycled

With Cyclotron, we took the chance and switched some parts in while replacing others:

Firefox-Plasma 52.0.1 has been updated to the Firefox ESR release channel, meaning it will keep receiving security fixes, but stay stable as to not break kmozillahelper as easily.

We also introduce our new default videoplayer mpv, which features a simplified black theme for its smplayer frontend.

We further included a new volume mixer applet and added Grub customizer back in.

To round things up, we included an extra pack of fresh wallpapers.

You can find the 64-bit ISO in the download section and ask for help or report any issues in our Forums section.

ah ! same problem as with ubuntu ! Nevermind i’m ready to go now i will install it . Thank you for your help i was always wanted to use only a debian distro and this distro is the best ! Linux mint debian edition has done serious work but you need to install the backport’s kernel version cause its kernel is way too old !!! I don’t know why is that with debian why so old kernel ?? its unacceptable ! – I’m gonna do a fresh install with netrunner wish me luck

        • Mostafa Kamel

you welcome, wish you best of luck, and please let me know about your experience

          • cavetroll

is it a rolling distro for real or i have to enter some commands to upgrade it to the next version. My previous Linux distro was Linux mint debian edition very good and rolling distro but it gets screwed if i try to move to testing or unstable repos !

  • Steffen

Hi, is there some kind of release schedule somewhere, e.g. how long this version will receive updates etc.?
